2014 Elections A Drift From Growth Agenda To Hatred Speeches

Political economy of India has perhaps lost its glaze and glamor in the elections of 2014 as most of the political parties are fighting this election not on the issues concerning the people and nation but  on those issues that what suit them the most. Unfortunately in the twenty first century both the people and political parties are taking a very arthodox stand of communalising and polarising the election process. The world is watching very carefully and anxiously the elections of 2014 and it will be disappointing, if leaders do not take lessons from the past. Now what forces are operating in India that political parties cannot have courage to face people on new agendas. As a result people like Togadia are allowed to spite hatred and create fear psychosis among the minority community.Question arises why is Togadia opening his mouth now? And why is tape war started by a political party now? It seems that such stategies are well pondered and such polarising of electorate is played when a few parties are on weak ground. The Congress never talked of such nonsense things in 2009 elections when it went for vote on the issues of good goverance and growth. But now it stands on a very weak wicket therefore, one after another tapes are presented by the Congress Party to divert attention of the people.

It is unfortunate to note that religion still plays an  important role during the election. The process of polarising the elections had started when the Congress Party chief Mrs . Sonia Gandhi decided to meet a Muslim religious leader and asked his support in the election under pretext of not dividing secular votes. It is beyond the imagination of the common men  how is Muslim vote secular and others vote non secular. Unfortunately it clearly indicated desperate bid to get a good chunk of Muslims vote or rather transferring Muslim votes from BSP and Samajwadi Party. This unthoughtful political blunder has changed the pace and process of 2014 elections. In fact it has started a serious competition among the political parties to do something dramatic so that they are able to win the heart of a religious group or the other group.

In my opinion it was a tactical move of the Congress Party to derail the BJP from its growth model  because at that front Congress was finding it difficult to cope up.It has given a different color to the whole election process because in every political parties there are many leaders who only fit in this type of election agenda. As a result Azam Khan crossed the line as soon as Amit Shah has spoken about taking revenge for whatever had happened in Muzaffarnagar. He went on to divide our army on the religious basis. As this was not enough when Mulayam Singh Yadav spoke about rape and in pursuit of getting support of a section of people he said there is no need for death penalty for the rape as boys make such mistakes.

After this it was a free for all .Nobody had taken care of what is he speaking and what will be its consequences. Now youth of modern India is least interested in all these nonsense utterings and baseless allegations. They have a different vision and different priorities and therefore, they are not going to be swayed away by these political tantrums. It is the reason why new political parties like AAP has impressed Indian youths more than any other partis. The issues today are corruption, unemployment and progress, hence political parties will have to change their strategy  and agenda of wooing the voters.

The present elections, therefore ,are going to be trend setter and many old myths and methodologies will be shattered. This was well visualised by BJP in the initial stage of its ekectioneering and therefore it was selling the Gujrst model of development abd the Congress found it difficult to counter.Modi wave is so powerful and dominant that the Congress and other parties are forced to develop some political negativities to counter Modi and his Model. As a result, they are trying to  drift the attention of the people from growth to religious polarisation. As a result, leaders Praveen Todgadia and many others are involved in hate speeches and they are hell bent upon creating rifts among Hindu and Muslims. I hope people are wise enough to teach them a lesson.
